Great Scott! great dant at it again: Viewers of the PokerStars live streams have been treated to some spectacular final tables during this WCOOP and last night had the privilege of watching some of the game’s undisputed superstars go at it again in the $10K PKO High Roller, otherwise known as WCOOP-63-H. Talal “raidalot” Shakerchi was aiming for his third win of the series; Christian “WATnlos” Rudolph had his eye on a second, and making up the numbers were such luminaries as Adrian “Amadi_017” Mateos, Wiktor “Iimitless” Malinowski and Sam “Str8$$$Homey” Greenwood. On this occasion, however, as on so many others, the smart move was to watch the man from Brazil. Bruno “great dant” Volkmann has documented lifetime online cashes of close to $12 million and two previous WCOOP victories of his own, from tournaments in 2017 and 2018. This would turn out to be his third. After seeing off the rest of the 123-entry field, Volkmann beat Rudolph heads-up, denying that single-series double to Rudolph, but swelling his own coffers by a further $331,495. An incredible $211,875 of that came in bounties, underlining just how dominant a performance this was.
Regina reigns again: The tournaments branded as the Sunday Warm-Up Special Edition were among those to wrap on Monday night, and both eclipsed their guarantees by a significant margin offering massive prizes to their winners. This was Event-62, where the medium buy-in was $215 and the high $2,100 and they attracted 3,520 and 346 entries, respectively. That put $704K and $692K in their prize pools. In the medium, Canada’s complicated Excel formula of a player, “SSSMBRFC2/C“, otherwise known as Jase Regina, won the second WCOOP title of his career, beating Peru’s “MrHyde97” heads-up. MrHyde97 was himself seeking a second victory, having won a huge Sunday tournament last week and banked $245,067. This time, MrHyde97 had to make do with $72,027 as Regina scooped the six-figure score. The Toronto native won $101,045 and added this title to the one he earned in 2016. Regina’s prize was narrowly outdone by the $128,604 won by “tohazzz” of Belarus, who took down the $2K version. tohazzz got on the WCOOP board for the first time, beating Austria’s “Kohlrabi7” head-up.

May the force be with them: Certain claims are being made by a screen-name like “jedimaster82“, perhaps that the player in question has strange and mystical powers allowing them to master deep and complicated tasks that other mortals cannot. And that they were born in 1982. On available information, it’s not possible to verify birthdate, but we can now confirm that the Swedish player who goes by the name jedimaster82 is some kind of savant. A year after winning the $10K buy-in PLO Main Event during WCOOP, jedimaster82 has picked up a second career title. This was again in PLO and again came in a tournament with a massive buy-in and the best of the best in the field. jedimaster82 last night beat a field of 105 entries in the $5K PLO 6-Max WCOOP-64-H, banking a further $125,457. In doing so, they condemned Brazil’s Dante “dantegoyaF” Goya to a second runner-up finish of this series, a year after Goya won two titles, and left perennial final table player “3DTemujiN” of Kazakhstan in third and Konstantin “krakukra” Maslak in fourth. jedimaster82 is certainly casting a spell over WCOOP PLO tournaments in recent years.
Superstars assemble, but there’s only one rul0r: The Austria-based “CPUrul0r” first came to our attention during Stadium Series when, on one night, they won a $1K PKO Freezeout and finished top of the overnight counts in the Super Tuesday Special Edition. The same player is back in the spotlight after winning a first WCOOP title of their career, this time in a $2K 6-Max freezeout, worth $79,276. This may have looked like an anonymous little tournament, but the final table line-up begged to differ. SCOOP champ “MAMOHT_T” was second, Anton “Bomber&Granater” Wigg was third, Christoph “26071985” Vogelsang was fourth, previous WCOOP 2021 winner “BetForNympho” was fifth, and Futti18, who finished sixth, also has a WCOOP title from 2017. (Rui “RuiNF” Ferreira bubbled the final table.) CPUrul0r therefore had their work cut out, but triumphed for that maiden title from a 202-entry field.

The headline news from the stat tracker is that first-place prizes from this WCOOP series have now surpassed $10 million. Just over $1.86 million of that has been bounty payments. But there are a lot of very happy players out there.

STATES OF PLAY
A look at what’s happening in the events paused overnight:
The $109 Sunday Million is at its final table and will be given the full PokerStars streaming experience as it finds its champion tonight. There were 18,720 entries and a huge $1.872 million prize pool, which means two players are going to turn their hundred bucks into more than $83K, before duking it out for the final bounty. Action resumes at 1pm ET on PokerStars Twitch and YouTube channels. There’s also the $1K version of the same event playing out tonight, and that has 16 players left. They include Jorryt “TheCleaner11” Van Hoof, Sergei “srxakgirona” Reixach and two-time Sunday Million winner “Lucky_Jew_17”. There’s $1.93 million in that prize pool.
There are 97 players left (of a 779-entry field) in WCOOP-69-H, so it’s far too early to be thinking about a champion. But there’s a brilliant match-up at the very top of the overnight counts, where reigning WSOP Main Event champion Damian “pampa27” Salas is one big blid ahead of reigning WCOOP Main Event champion Andre “PTFisherman23” Marques. We’re into the final full week of WCOOP 2021, which means Marques will be trying to get into shape to defend his title. He’s doing pretty well if this showing is anything to go on, but Salas is no slouch and there are tons of other big names still around. So watch with baited breath.
Elliott “elliottpet” Peterman already has one huge victory to his name during this WCOOP, but the Costa Rica-based player is sitting second of 40 remaining in the $1K 8-Max PKO paused overnight, with the biggest chunks of the $874K prize pool still to be awarded. Other players in with a shot include Shawn “buck21” Buchanan, Rinat “Zapahzamazki” Lyapin, Fabiano “Kovalski1” Kovalski, Joao “IneedMassari” Simao and Vlad “dariepoker” Darie.
It’s anyone’s game still in the $530 Mixed NLHE/PLO 6-Max, where the top 10 (of 41 left) includes the likes of Niklas “Lena900” Astedt, Andrew “MrAndreeew” Berggren, Connor “blanconegro” Drinan and Talal “raidalot” Shakerchi. Konstantin “krakukra” Maslak is 11th, and there are plenty more heroes looking for the $30K first prize, and the trophy.
